Eligibility

This course is suitable for teachers, those in teacher training, and serious yoga students committed to advancing in their practice. Though an established ashtanga practice is definitely desirable, the course is open to all who want to learn and deepen in their practice. It is not suitable for beginners, though advanced skill in asanas is not required. However, do note that the morning asana session is self- practice, so you should be accustomed to practising independently. Genuine commitment to the spiritual path is what you need. Those with experience in different traditions are most welcome! A range of perspectives enriches the group process. Though my approach is totally non-sectarian and open, I expect everyone on the course to dedicate themselves to the spiritual quest. To further that quest through the discipline of yoga, you should be prepared to commit to a daily asana and meditation practice, as well as regular study.

Study is a part of yoga practice. As one of the niyamas (personal disciplines),  Svadhyaya (study) refers to study of the sacred texts as well as self-study. These practices are connected!!!  Self-study develops an awareness of our thought patterns, habit energy and assumptions, so that the ancient texts which address these matters become more accessible. The wisdom of the ancient texts then informs our self-study, clarifying the often murky lens through which we view life.  In this course, self-study will develop naturally, and I will guide you with periodic suggestions. Study of the ancient texts we approach methodically.

As the satsang sessions are experiential and interactive, the group has always bonded deeply, learning from the personal experiences and understanding that everyone has to contribute.  A readiness to explore the spiritual path with others--with open mind and heart--is what I expect from everyone. At the same time, I have total respect for the variety of learning styles that present. Your uniqueness will be honoured at all times.
