How do you decide things?
Your gut responds with certainty. Emotions surface with compelling force. You recognise patterns from past experiences, in this life or another, and may think all this resides “inside you”. But that is only a particular perspective. There is another more liberating.
Everything you identify as you—your body, mind, memory, soul, aura—is continuous with its surroundings. Just as the atomic particles that comprise your body are identical to those that comprise all matter—waves vibrating at various frequencies—so is your astral body continuous with the subtle energy that pervades everything. All are interdependent fields of energy, with fluid boundaries. The concept of “inside” is merely an artifice of ego identity, useful for daily life and true only in relative terms.
In absolute terms, you are cosmic light—undifferentiated, yet crystallised now for a purpose to fulfil. Or put another way, cosmic light or pure consciousness is animating the instrument you call you. Every being is a configuration of cosmic light, “an instrument”. Though constantly changing, it has a recognisable form, consistent between birth and death.
Science understands how our physical bodies develop according to the DNA blueprint that our parents transmit. Your body comes from your ancestors. Jyotish (Vedic Astrology) understands how our subtle bodies develop similarly, according to the blueprint of our karmic DNA, which a Jyotishi can read in the stars. Your soul enters time and space when the heavens precisely mirror the dharma (purpose) this particular incarnation needs. Since everything interconnects and communicates, the kaleidoscopic patterns celestial bodies make correspond to the kaleidoscopic patterns of human life unfolding through time.
Your Jyotish chart illuminates the truth these patterns reveal. Each “planet” is a convergence of subtle divine energy, anchored in space by the physical planet in the sky. The Sanskrit word for planet is “graha”, which translates literally as “grab”. Planets are an energy that grabs you, astral forces moulding consciousness in a particular way. You reflect the Shakti (power) of the planets. It’s your karmic DNA.
But just as your physical genes do not determine your destiny—because the circumstances of your life affect profoundly how they will manifest—so too with your karmic DNA. Your actions influence which karmic seeds will blossom and which will wither away. With the knowledge of Jyotish illuminating your awareness, you learn to nurture the seeds destined to manifest the highest potential your chart promises, both materially and spiritually.
